Going to see my wedding planner and venue this month (SriLanka)
Hi friends, Bloggers and Brides-to-be,
After a little deliberation between Italy, England, Dubai and SriLanka, my fiancée and I decided to Wed in Srilanka in February 2014. We both love to Travel and I am half Sri Lankan, whilst Dubai offers many wonderful venues to hold a wedding reception, in addition to the availability of some fantastic wedding planners, we both live here and felt that the options available to us personally did not suit what we were really looking for.
The UK was an option for ME, but primarily to please our family back home, my fiancé was pretty adamant that getting married in the UK was not an option for him, he just does not like the place and of course whilst we would love to please everyone, it is going to be OUR once in a life time day, not everyone else’s. So the final toss-up was between Italy and Srilanka, due to my close personal ties with Sri Lanka and the fact that we can get there cheaply and easily by plane, only a four-hour journey, we have made our final choice. SRILANKA it is!
So, our wedding is now 18 months away, a long time I know, but we have a lot to think about and organize especially since we are having a destination wedding. It’s not like we can afford to hop on a plane any time we have questions or queries regarding our upcoming wedding. So this year, we decided not to take a long holiday and instead have a few short and snappy weekend breaks across the Middle east and this month in Sri Lanka.
Whilst we visit Srilanka this month, we have taken the perfect opportunity to meet with ‘George Cooper’ our wedding planner and the owner of our wedding venue ‘The Kahanda Kanda’. We have lots of questions and ideas that we would like to discuss with George and of course to finalize some of our budget points.
I have had the pleasure of staying at the Kahanda Kanda boutique hotel before and fell in love, I am personally very happy with our choice. But I feel it is also important that my fiancée see’s the venue, I want him to be just as excited and comfortable with the choice as I am.
I will be updating this blog with pictures of my visit and updates on some of the ideas we have for our tropical wedding in Paradise.
Can’t wait!.
Tara for now

I just got married there – fabulous!! George is amazing. I left a note on trip advisor last week.
Hi Gavin – CONGRATULATIONS :)!I would love to have some feed back from people who have married there. I’ll check out your review. I may have some questions for you further down the line if that is OK? Sorry, it’s just a bit overwhelming organising a wedding in SriLanka when I live in Dubai and half of my family are from the UK. Thanks – Rio
