Hello from sunny London/UK
Hi lovelies.
I hope you are all well and not suffering too much in the Dubai heat? To those fasting, Ramadan Kareem and blessings to your family.
I’m currently in Sunny London, the weather has been scorching since we landed, which has been wonderful, if a little hot and sweaty (no air-con) but I can’t complain.
Anyway, my UK trip is almost coming to an end, this weekend Adam and I are off to Oxford for my cousins wedding and then after that, we have a few more days left before we fly back to the sandpit.
In the few weeks I have been here, I have crammed so much in and I still feel like I have loads to do, the time just fly’s. After a few days chilling, it was our pre-wedding event at ‘The House of Wolf’ in Highbury and Islington. I organized the event from Dubai and was very nervous, not only because 4 sets of family were coming together, but because it was the first time I had even seen the venue in real life. Anyhow, the event went really well and every one enjoyed themselves. I had some help from various family members too and that was a god send. The venue was quirky and funky, right up our street and was based up in North London (where I am from).
I kept it very casual, we had some money behind the bar, which we thought would be gone within the first hour, but it lasted the full 3 hours AND we were left with about 400£ still on the tab, so myself, Adam and some family members will go there on Sunday for a slap up roast/farewell dinner, yay!
We also ordered some Sri Lankan finger food (my mum is Sri Lankan) and pre-made sandwiches from M&S which went down a treat. A family friend made us the cutest cake with our caricatures and tag line ‘We’re getting hitched’ on the top, the guests loved it and it tasted delish! For decor, I just blew up some balloons and scattered them around, the venue provided some gorgeous flowers and candles. Family members with a love for photography took photo’s and my cousin Sam Davies of ‘Charlie Boyer and The Voyeurs’ was the DJ for the day, playing old school Motown classics.
All in all, it was a great success and Adam and I could not be happier.
Below are some snap shots captured by Adams dad and our good friend Anne Sinclair – I will be back in a few days, with my UK HEN party update and some of my bridal shopping adventures since I landed in London.
And some more……
I’m off to Oxford for a wedding in the morning, see you in a few days.
Ciao for now.
Rio xx
