My Wedding Favors – Almost done, but I need ‘English favor’ ideas!
Hello peeps,
I am posting a little earlier than usual this week, as I have a lot to update you all on.
Anyhow, today I am going to talk about our wedding favors. Originally, we were going to have one simple, yet unique favor for our guests, but since my future mother in law who is Italian/British insisted (very nicely) that we have traditional ‘Confetti/sugared almonds’ that kind of swayed my idea, as I really did not want that to be our ‘favor’, she offered to pay for them and bring them to Dubai, so I didn’t turn it down. So, instead, we decided to put together ‘Favor bags’ for our guests combining small gifts representing our mixed cultures: English, Sri Lankan, Italian and Arabic (where we live).
We were lucky since Adams mum is providing the sugared almonds, my nan is providing the Sri Lankan favors (secret), I purchased the Arabic favors from Dragon Mart after some hard core negotiation (secret) and I am currently trying to source a cheap but effective ‘English’ favor to conclude the mix.
My main costs have been the bag that contains the favors and the draw string linen bags to hold the sugared almonds.
One of my clients Samera from I gifts JTL is amazing at sourcing things when you desperately need them, within a week she sourced my favor bags in the exact style and size I needed, at a good rate. The sugared almond bags I purchased from etsy.com, as they were just what I needed and also had the Italian phrase ‘Grazie’ stamped on them, which I think is cute.
So far I have spent 580AED on my favors, including the Arabic gifts, favor bags and almond bags. Now, I need to source my ‘English favors’ at minimal cost, so I am thinking of DIYing some tea bags and making some pretty packaging….Hmmmmmmm, any suggestions are gladly welcome!
Anyhow, I really do like the idea of ‘favor’ bags, especially if you are having a destination wedding or a wedding where many of your guests are spending a small fortune to attend your big day, it’s something thing they can enjoy opening (like a goody bag) and take home with them after their travels. The cost does not have to be ridiculous, you can source bags at around 2-3AED per bag and fill with pretty trace paper and small nic nacks such as sweets, handmade thank you cards, etc. You can also DIY the tags by purchasing them from Daiso for 7AED a pack (35 per pack) and trying your hand at calligraphy.
I really do hope mine come together nicely and that our guests enjoy their favors, can’t wait to show you pictures of the favor bags after our wedding and reveal what was inside.
Remember, if any one has any cheap but effective ideas for ‘ENGLISH wedding favors’ do let me know, I’m all ears!
Ciao for now
Rio xx
